Oscar, Golden Globes and It’s Influence on Our Style Look.
With the 2009 award shows such as the Oscars approaching and the Golden Globes just passing by, we wonder how the likes of Angelina Jolie, Cate Blanchett and many others stars who we like, manage to look stunning every time.
The 66th annual Golden Globes this year was absolutely Glam, Chic, and definitely The most Classy one. Women of any age were after simplicity, elegance and class. Take a look at best supporting actress winner for “The Reader” Kate Winslet, in Yves Saint Laurent and Chopard, Penelope Cruz in Giorgio Armani Prive and Chopard, Anne Hathaway in Giorgio Armani Prive and Van Cleef & Arpels. The list would never end…
Every show commands a different style look, and every look is on full display for the critics to dissect. It’s enough to make the average person crawl in a hole if put in the same position, while the star needs superhero powers to make it through – or at least a team of the best in the business.
You might think that if you had a crew to look after yourself, you’d look like a million dollar as well. Imagine if you needed to present an award at the Oscars, how would you want to look? Knowing that your stylist would have your best interest at hand, she would need to head to your favorite designer’s studio to pick the most dazzling looks. While the jobs of Rachel Zoe and other stylists to the stars are surely stressful this time of year, it must be a dream come true to be the first to view some of these collections. Being a fashion insider like Zoe would be as inspiring as it is amazing.
It would be hard to choose the one outfit, but I know that sometimes three or more are set aside for the star to decide on, sometimes waiting up to the day of the event. Of course, fit is taken into consideration, and each piece will be ready, regardless if it is worn. There is sanctity in knowing that no one else will show up with the same dress. The jewels, the shoes, the handbag are all precisely chosen, ready to go.
On the day of the event, the assembled team will be ready to powder the star into precise form. She has most likely been buffed, waxed, and shined to perfection; her limbs bronzed the right shade to show off the lines of her sculpted body. All of this would be nothing without the perfect designer gown. The hair and makeup are faultless, and someone from the team will keep watch as she makes her way down the red carpet.
Who can forget the incredible vintage Valentino that Julia Roberts wore in 2001 to accept her Oscar? It was Valentino again on Cate Blanchett in pale yellow and burgundy when she accepted her Oscar in 2005. Or anytime Renee Zelleweger showed up in Carolina Herrera – it was perfection each time. These women know the power they hold over fashion during the awards season, and the designers cater to them, know that millions of women become spellbound. It doesn’t matter if the piece comes from the latest collection or is vintage, the fashion has the authority to influence and create sales for designers everywhere. Each award show televised creates a fashion buzz for women everywhere.
This year, some of the style predictions are for lots of color in the dresses. The styles themselves will be simple, but played up by dazzling diamonds and statement jewels. The jewelry will not be of the costume variety, but of fine, unusual stones and unique mountings. The shoes will be the showstoppers, combining elite materials with towering heels – we will see feathers, ruffles, fringes, and sparkling embellishments.

Are You the Next Hot Designer?
To most people, becoming a fashion designer seems like an unrealistic aim. You might see things differently – and you might be right.
We have all heard of students being snapped up by major fashion houses not long after leaving a well-known fashion college. (Stella McCartney was made the chief designer of Parisian fashion house Chloe, after producing only two of her own collections.) But the acclaimed reality TV show ‘Project Runway’ showed that students on fashion courses at small, relatively unknown colleges, can win international competitions. (Graduate of American Intercontinental University’s London campus Christian Siriano was the recent winning designer of season 4 finale.)
But, even if you don’t get name recognition right off, plenty of other designers start with very small budgets, and very small clothing collections. British fashion company Red-or-Dead began by selling vintage clothes on a local market stall, and then added their own clothing to it. They now have their own lines of shoes, bags, sunglasses, and watches, along with a world wide following. Alexander McQueen served an apprenticeship as a tailor after leaving school. He later worked in fashion in Paris, and finally studied for a Master of Arts in fashion design in London. His entire final year college collection was snapped up by fashion patron Isabella Blow. And he’s now one of the most recognizable names in fashion.
A lot of famous designers came to the profession from different fields: celebrated French fashion designer Christian Lacroix studied history and museum studies, before obtaining a position with Hermès in Paris, and, later still, setting up by himself. And Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto studied law before taking up fashion.
One thing these designers have is a love of fashion. And they also display a respect for the craftsmanship and history of fashion. More importantly, they had a vision, and the perseverance to see it through. Sometimes young designers can try to force creativity, because they feel they have to find their style at the beginning. In reality, most designers take quite a while to develop a particular style ‘signature’. Most designers are probably still learning and discovering new ideas after years, or decades even according to Michael H. of StartingaClothingLine.com.. Like all arts, fashion is as much about the process and working with the materials as anything else.
If you’re on a budget, work out what fabrics are best for you, and work with them. A cotton shirt, well designed and well made, looks as good as one made from much more expensive fabric. When it comes to illustration, Digital Fashion Pro is a professional level fashion design software that enables you to easily design and illustrate garments and outfits, but it costs only a fraction of the price of many other similar software. With creativity, vision, and even a modest budget, you become the next hot designer!

Guests in attendance included: Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley; actor/actresses Lindsey Price, Joy Bryant, and Beverly Todd, and Eric Balfour.
The atmosphere of the event was as beautiful as the company. 1) Scarves by Material: Scarves are usually fabricated from multiple fabrics to suit diverse requirements and needs. Silk, pashmina, cashmere, wool, velvet, cotton, satin, chiffon, rayon, nylon, and polyester constitute the primary varieties of such scarves. All these types come under this category. Each of these scarves provides a different feel from the other, depending upon the type of fabric or fabrics from which it is made.

For instance, head scarves are meant for wearing on the head; winter scarves are suitable for winter season, and so.
3) Scarves by Patterns: Patterned scarves are demanded the most, the world over; in fact, patterns of various types inject life into the otherwise dull scarves. This reason alone is enough to make this category stand out from the others. The much favored patterns in women’s scarves include paisley, floral, animal, geometric, and abstract print
4) Scarves by Type: Last but not least, scarves by type is one of the basic categories, particularly in case of women apparel. As the name suggests, this category consists of the scarves, which are pretty different in their nature. The key scarves in this class include knitted, vintage, handwoven, hand-printed, embroidered, handmade, and machine printed; each having its own distinguishing characteristics.
The above four categories have provided a glimpse of the vast range of ladies scarves or mufflers from which the markets are almost flooding these days.
